"Despite being unfinished at Mozart's death, the piece is nonetheless one of his more popular compositions for the piano. Because of its somewhat unusual rhythm, its constantly changing tempo (7 different tempi occur throughout the piece...), and its complete lack of any recognizable musical form (as indicated by the "Fantasy" title), the Fantasia is considered to be a relatively challenging piece to perform."
"Due to these sometimes surprising key changes, ... the music is thought of as quite technically demanding."

The sonata was written for a violin virtuoso to be performed at a concert in Vienna. Mozart was to be the pianist, but he did not give himself enough time to write out the score for piano. Thus it was performed with a sheet of blank music paper in front of him, as a prop.
... According to a story told by his widow Constanze, the emperor Joseph II saw the empty sheet music through his opera glasses and sent for the composer with his manuscript during which time Mozart had to confess the truth, although that is likely to have amused the monarch rather than cause his irritation.

= = = = =
Haydn Quartets
Mozart composed 23 string quartets during his life. His six "Haydn" Quartets were written in Vienna during the years 1782 to 1785. They are dedicated to the composer Joseph Haydn, who is considered the creator of the modern string quartet.
Haydn had recently completed his influential "Opus 33" set of quartets in 1781, the year that Mozart arrived in Vienna. Mozart studied Haydn's string quartets and began composing this set of six, which were published in 1785. During this time, Haydn and Mozart had become friends, and sometimes played quartets together in Mozart's apartment, with Mozart playing the viola, and Haydn playing violin; see Haydn and Mozart.
Haydn first heard the quartets at two gatherings at Mozart's home, 15 January and 12 February, 1785 (on these occasions he apparently just listened, rather than playing a part himself). After hearing them all, Haydn made a now-famous remark to Mozart's father Leopold, who was visiting from Salzburg: "Before God, and as an honest man, I tell you that your son is the greatest composer known to me either in person or by name. He has taste, and, what is more, the most profound knowledge of composition." The comment was preserved in a letter Leopold wrote 16 February to his daughter Nannerl. [Source: Wikipedia]

“Mozart's refinement of the concerto, especially the piano concerto, brought the genre to a new level of sophistication.
In 1782, he began a period of concentrated piano concerto writing. Nos. 11-25 that he produced in 1786 became more pianistically virtuosic and symphonically rich.”
