Sergei Rachmaninoff
[sʲɪrˈɡʲej rɐxˈmanʲɪnəf] (1873 – 1943)Rachmaninoff composed the Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini, one of his best known works, in 1934. It is written for solo piano and symphony orchestra, closely resembling a piano concerto.
The piece is a set of 24 variations on Niccolò Paganini's Caprices No.24 for solo violin.
