The Temptation of Adam and Eve

Three centuries after the painting, it was ordered to add fig leaves to conceal the genitals of the figures. The leaves were eventually removed in the 1980's when the painting was fully restored and cleaned.



Florentine School

In 1771, this masterpiece was disemmbled and dispersed. Artists tried to reconstruct all the missing panels.

Bare-footed Jesus (L), standing on a rock (representing the church), is calling Galilee fishers Peter (C) and his elder brother Andrew (R) to become his apostles. Their net is full when Jesus says to them: “Follow me, and I will make you fishers of men” (Matthew 4:18).

Three Marys at the Tomb

The sitting archangel Gabriel told Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene and Mary (the mother of John Mark) that the tomb was empty because of Christ's Ascension.
