Written during the Ming dynasty, it is about the love story of a Song dynasty girl, who died of love-sickness as she could not meet her dream boy.

Written in 1688, the play recounts the love story of Emperor Tang Xuanzong (唐玄宗) and his favorite consort, Noble Lady Yang (杨贵妃).
