Holy Mother is holding Jesus to her bosom, Magdalene is holding his feet, whilst apostle John in desperation swings his arms to the back. Others mourn in silence.

* Apostle Peter is raged and in his attempt to rescue Jesus he cuts off an ear of a soldier. A nearby monk poses to stop Peter.
* "The kiss is given by Judas in the Garden of Gethsemane after the Last Supper and leads directly to the arrest of Jesus by the police force of the Sanhedrin."
* "More broadly, a Judas kiss may refer to "an act appearing to be an act of friendship, which is in fact harmful to the recipient".
The Scrovegni Chapel

Scrovegni, an affluent banker, commissioned the chapel to serve as a family worship, burial space and as a backdrop for an annually performed mystery play.
Inside, the chapel contains a fresco cycle by Giotto and considered to be an important masterpiece of Western art.
