Painting #B14 - Ulysses and the Sirens

Ulysses and the Sirens
- Herbert James Draper (1863-1929, British)
- oil on canvas (177 × 213 cm) in 1909
- Forens Art Gallery (Kingston upon Hull)
("Draper also painted a reduced replica that is housed at the Leeds Art Gallery.")

Ulysses and the Sirens
- John William Waterhouse (1849-1917, English)
- oil on canvas (101 × 202 cm) in 1891
- National Gallery of Victoria (Melbourne)

Greek mythology: All other hands had their ears muffled, as the sirens would make sounds to craze them. Ulysses took the challenge to hear the sirens, but had himself tied to the mast as a precaution.

Draper seemed to have healthier models than Joseph Wright had in [A14].
